Flood coordination

Floods can affect a number of areas within the County of Oxford.  

The County of Oxford works with its local municipalities and closely with the Grand River Conservation Authority, Upper Thames River Conservation Authority, Long Point Region Conservation Authority and the Catfish Creek Conservation Authority. 

Together, we all ensure that safety precautions and systems are in place to monitor river and stream conditions and rainfall in order to provide adequate warning and preparation for floods.


The local Conservation Authorities are responsible for maintaining a 24 hour watch of potential damaging floods and for issuing flood monitoring / safety bulletins to the County of Oxford, local municipalities, and various media outlets (see chart below).

A general notice that potential conditions exist that pose a risk to personal safety.
