The Department's responsibilities are to deliver social service programs, being Ontario Works, Social Housing, Child Care Subsidy and Long-Term Care. Programs are delivered from the Social Services office at 21 Reeve Street, the new County Administration building, and with Ontario Works Caseworkers situated in Tillsonburg, Ingersoll and Woodstock. Long-term care is delivered from county-owned facilities, Woodstock, Ingersoll and Tillsonburg. Domiciliary hostels that have existing agreements with the County are situated in Ingersoll, Woodstock, Tavistock and Norwich. Benefits provided through the Ontario Disability Support Program are delivered from the Provincial Office, at 93 Graham Street.

The County of Oxford is a designated Consolidated Municipal Services Manager, authorized by the Province to deliver the above programs.

The Oxford County Department of Social Services and Housing is a result of restructuring that includes the delivery of all of the above programs. The Department Head is accountable administratively to the C.A.O./Clerk of Oxford County, and reports to County Council on a routine basis.
