Created in January 2000, the County of Oxford Archives is the official repository for the municipal Corporation of the County of Oxford.

The County of Oxford Archives

  • acquires
  • preserves
  • makes accessible inactive public records created by, for, and about Oxford County.

These records include

  • administrative
  • legal
  • fiscal
  • historical records of the County of Oxford 1850 to the present, and its predecessor, the District of Brock, 1842 to 1849.

The County of Oxford Archives has a firm commitment to preserving and making available the County’s total archival heritage.  If you have some materials that you are considering donating, please contact the Archivists.  Staff are always interested in receiving new acquisitions, provided that the materials meet the terms of our mandate of collecting materials relating to the people, places and history of OxfordCounty .
 

Archives Staff facilitate and monitor public access to the archival information as prescribed by the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, 1990.

The County of Oxford Archives also endeavors to increase public awareness of the rich cultural heritage of Oxford County through the implementation of a comprehensive outreach program, including

  • presentations
  • displays
  • education programs

The County of Oxford Archives staff consists of:

  • Mary Gladwin (Archivist)
  • Liz Mayville (Assistant Archivist)

who report to the Director of Corporate Services for the Municipal Corporation of the County of Oxford.
