Student Recruitment

The County of Oxford accepts applications in December for summer positions for students who are enrolled and will be attending a full-time post-secondary institution in the fall of 2019.

To apply for a summer student position, you must be:

  • Legally able to work in Canada as a student
  • Currently enrolled in full-time studies in a post-secondary program
  • Must be returning to school full-time in September 2019

Students may work more than 2 work terms providing they are the best candidate for the position.

  • Roads – General Labourers (Springford, Highland, Drumbo and Woodstock Patrols)
  • Construction
  • Water + Waste Water Services
  • Facilities
  • Waste Management (Environmental)

Woodingford Lodge

  • PSW
  • Food Service Worker - must have current Food Handlers Certificate
  • Housekeeping/Laundry Aide

Please indicate which department you are interested in working in. When filling student work terms, preference will be given to students that are enrolled in a post-secondary program that relates to the position.

Resume Submission

You may submit your resume to for a summer student position from December 1, 2018 – December 31, 2018.

You will only be contacted if you are selected for an interview. Interviews will take place during reading weeks.

Student Pay Rate

  • Post secondary summer student - $16.00/hr
  • Woodingford Lodge student positions – 80% of the comparable position rate

Resume Requirements

Your resume needs to have the following information:

  • Your current contact information including your name, address, email address, mobile and home telephone numbers
  • The name of the school you attend and the name of any schools that you have attended in the past
  • Program name, year you will be entering in the fall of 2019 , and length of the program (for example, Bachelor of Science - year three of a four year program)
  • The class of your valid Ontario driver’s licence or equivalent
  • A description of paid work experiences and/or volunteer experiences
  • A description of your computer skills
  • A description of your hands-on experience with different types of tools and equipment, including hand held, power tools and gas-operated tools
  • A list of any up-to-date certificates you have (for example, first aid and/or CPR)
  • A list of any associations you belong to
