Mount Elgin Collection System

Small diameter sewers have been installed along Plank Line, Mount Elgin Road, Peggy Avenue, Terry Avenue and Graydon Avenue.

The Oxford Christian Reformed School is currently connected to the new sewage system and is expected to be operating by (mid October) upon installation of the sewage pumps.

The collection system is a combination of a Septic Tank Effluent Pumped System (STEP) and a Septic Tank Effluent Gravity System (STEG). Approximately five (5) connections to the new sewage collection system are scheduled to occur in November, 2011. Wastewater Treatment System Design upgrades are expected to be completed this winter and construction is targeted for the summer of 2012.

It is mandatory that existing septic systems constructed before January 2000 are connected to the new sewage system before or during year 2016.

Existing septic systems constructed after January 2000 are required to connect to the new sewer system by year 2020. Any residence may connect to the municipal system prior to the mandatory connection date.

In conjunction with the 2010/2011 construction, the County is reconstructing County Road 18 (Mount Elgin Road – from Plank Line to approximately 500m east of Plank Line) from a rural cross-section to full urban cross-section as per Township/County standards.
